Why does AI Follow require microphone permission?

Local AI Follow needs the microphone. Full-screen and Floating fixed-speed prompting do not; Capture Prompt still needs camera and microphone access to record.

Let’s look at the conclusion first

Local AI Follow listens through the microphone and matches speech on your device. Full-screen and Floating fixed-speed prompting do not need microphone access. Capture Prompt records video with sound, so camera and microphone permissions are required even with fixed-speed text. Follow the permission guide for your chosen audio source.

Authorization method

  1. Switch the teleprompter mode to AI.
  2. Select Allow when asked for microphone permission.
  3. If you chose to deny and never ask again, please go to "Application Information > Permissions > Microphone" in the system settings to allow Zentraed Teleprompter again.
  4. Return to the app and wait for "Restoring Microphone" to end or re-enter AI mode.

Microphone audio is used for local speech recognition and will not be automatically uploaded during daily reading. If you actively submit diagnostic feedback, only the diagnostic sessions selected by you may include microphone audio and be sent by you through the system sharing panel.

Notice

Other recording, calling, or camera apps may temporarily use the microphone. When permissions have been granted but the AI still cannot receive sound, first end other applications that are recording, then return and try again.
