How to import images and documents from Tools

Recognize images or read a document, review the text, and save a new script.

Key point

Recognize images or read a document, review the text, and save a new script.

Steps

  1. Open Tools > Import Script and choose Image Recognition or Document Import. This entry creates a new script; use Import inside the editor to insert material into an existing script.
  2. For images, select 1 to 10 pictures, drag their handles into reading order, and start recognition. Retry, explicitly skip, or cancel failed images as prompted.
  3. For documents, choose a TXT, Markdown or DOCX file and wait for parsing. Review warnings and any imported chapter outline.
  4. Correct the title, body, punctuation and paragraphs. Inspect long screenshots, columns and tables carefully for missed or misread text.
  5. Optionally enable Clean Extra Blank Lines on the result page, then choose Save as New Script. Retry save errors before leaving; discarding conversion loses unsaved corrections.

Options, limits and troubleshooting

  • TXT and Markdown are limited to 10 MiB, DOCX to 50 MiB, and resulting text to about 200,000 characters. Images are limited to 10, 30 MiB each and 120 MiB total; extreme dimensions may also be rejected.
  • Images support JPG, PNG, static WebP and device-decodable HEIC/HEIF. Old .doc, PDF, encrypted DOCX and animated images are unsupported. Word headers, footers and text boxes are not guaranteed to import.
  • Extra-blank-line cleanup is a light whitespace operation, not punctuation restoration or rewriting. Use Script Cleanup for broader formatting. Files and images are processed locally.
