Key point
Start with Recommended, balance clarity and size, then inspect and share the output.
Steps
- Open Tools > Video Compression, choose a video, and review its original size and preview.
- Select Light, Recommended, Strong or Maximum and compare the estimated size. Recommended is a useful starting point.
- For specific needs, open Custom and set resolution, codec and quality, then Apply. Resolution will not upscale the source. H.264 is generally more compatible; H.265 needs device support and may not play everywhere.
- Start compression and wait for checking, encoding, verification and saving. You may return to Tools or lock the screen, but do not force-stop the app.
- Smaller results save automatically to the gallery. View the video and check fine detail and sound before sharing.
Options, limits and troubleshooting
- Light prioritizes clarity; Recommended balances quality and size; Strong reduces size further; Maximum prioritizes small files and deserves an extra compatibility and detail check. Size estimates and compression percentages are not guarantees.
- If the result is not smaller, it has not been saved automatically. Adjust settings, try a stronger preset, choose another video, or explicitly select Save Anyway. Already-efficient files may have little room for improvement.
- Current support is up to 4K/60fps, one video track and at most one mono/stereo audio track. HDR is unsupported. Adjust codecs or choose another source when unsupported; wait for another video export such as flipping to finish.
- Processing is local and retains the original. Cancel discards encoding progress; interrupted jobs must restart. Successful outputs are in the app's Compression folder under system Movies.
